As 2nd and 3rd generation farmers, our family began operating in the 1950's. But our roots in America stem from the bayous of Louisiana. We proudly come from a long line of farmers and strive to continue to bring the legacy of black farming from America's South all the way to the Central Valley and Fresno, California. We were able to make a name for ourselves with our special yellow watermelon. The unique fruit has allowed us to become a staple in the West Fresno Community and really connects with the citizens. The Sherman Family have planted their roots in Fresno, CA since the 1990's and have plans of continuing the family farming legacy for more generations.
The Sherman Family currently grows on 16 acres in West Fresno where the farm's mission is to feed and take care of the community by providing fresh, non-GMO, pesticide free “A-1” fruits and vegetables grown using regenerative practices.
The family vision for the farm is to scale double, then triple in size, while educating new Black farmers on how to manage farms.
